Hydra-Stop Overview

Hydra-Stop, based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, is the largest insertion valve and line stop manufacturer in the world. For over 40 years, Hydra-Stop has provided solutions for water control to thousands of municipalities and contractors around the world. Hydra-Stop provides solutions for the 20 – 50 percent of valves in municipal systems that no longer operate. Specifically, we:

  • Manufacture equipment for installing insertion valves in under-pressure applications
  • Manufacture and provide technical support for insertion valves and line stop fittings
  • Teach interested parties about alternative water main repair methodology to eliminate shutdowns and customer interruptions.
  • Help municipalities manage, maintain and provide solutions for aging water systems
  • Provide municipalities and private water utilities the easiest and most cost-effective solutions to service their communities
  • Minimize the disruption of water, the most basic human need — water

Territory Sales Manager

In a defined territory, the Territory Sales Manager will grow market acceptance of our technology through educating, training, and supporting municipalities and our service provider network. Direct sales activities include engineer specification generation, presentations, trade show exhibitions, quoting and negotiating, lead generation and follow-up, cold calling, and training.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Meet and/or exceed individual revenue threshold
  • Develop, train, manage and support equipment owner and service provider network
  • Build new business/client relationships. This activity will include cold call meetings and developing strategies to meet clients’ needs
  • Join and participate in local industry associations
  • Use conceptual selling and closing activities within target accounts and markets
  • Daily, weekly and monthly reporting of sales activities and schedules
  • Use company CRM to manage accounts, contacts, leads, opportunities and projects. Defined company processes must be used to manage CRM entities. Published deliverable dates are expected to be met
  • Abide by on-the-job site safety requirements
  • Attend and participate in both regional and national conferences and sales seminars, including giving technical presentations
  • Complete Special Projects as requested
  • Execute the company’s strategic initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in sales or water-related field preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time
  • Water industry experience preferred with sales exposure to contractors and municipalities
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and close a deal
  • Ability to successfully generate specifications
  • Good organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent opportunities with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Exceptional listening skills are essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and experience with CRM software

Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, the Quality Engineer will assist the Supervisor in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System. This person creates and revises process work instructions, manages non-conforming material, supports production with quality issues, leads production process audits and inspections, and supports customer complaints through troubleshooting and root cause activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain standard work instructions for manufacturing processes
  • Work with purchasing, engineering, and production to drive product process improvements
  • Perform dimensional analysis to help identify potential quality issues
  • Provides leadership/ guidance for the implementation of quality control systems
  • Assist in investigating and determining root causes and corrective actions for customer complaints
  • Conduct in-process and first article inspections per plan and schedule as necessary
  • Support incoming inspection program to ensure robust inspection processes
  • Conduct quality training for manufacturing personnel as needed
  • Identify and report product nonconformities and initiate resolutions
  • Help to improve, maintain, and repair standard testing or production equipment
  • Conduct other activities as directed by the Engineering Manager and Senior Staff

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in an associated discipline (Engineering, Quality, General Studies, etc.)
  • Strong understanding and previous experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerance
  • Willingness to be hands on in product testing, fixture building, or equipment maintenance
  • Experience in an ISO manufacturing environment
  • Must be able to climb and work from a ladder
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail
