Hydra-Stop Overview

Hydra-Stop, based in Burr Ridge, Illinois, is the largest insertion valve and line stop manufacturer in the world. For over 40 years, Hydra-Stop has provided solutions for water control to thousands of municipalities and contractors around the world. Hydra-Stop provides solutions for the 20 – 50 percent of valves in municipal systems that no longer operate. Specifically, we:

  • Manufacture equipment for installing insertion valves in under-pressure applications
  • Manufacture and provide technical support for insertion valves and line stop fittings
  • Teach interested parties about alternative water main repair methodology to eliminate shutdowns and customer interruptions.
  • Help municipalities manage, maintain and provide solutions for aging water systems
  • Provide municipalities and private water utilities the easiest and most cost-effective solutions to service their communities
  • Minimize the disruption of water, the most basic human need — water

We do that by offering solutions with the easiest and most cost-effective method for municipalities and private water utilities to serve their communities while minimizing the disruption of the water supply. Training & Technical Support Representative

The overall purpose of the Training & Technical Support Representative is to support sales efforts by training service providers and equipment owners on Hydra-Stop equipment. This individual will develop equipment owner and service provider competency in installing Hydra-Stop products and maintaining Hydra-Stop equipment to help ensure customer satisfaction and build customer advocacy.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and technical support to equipment owner and service provider network
  • Travel up to 75% of the time and on short notice
  • Follow standard training methods
  • Document written procedures and training reports
  • Provide training to Hydra-Stop commercial team members
  • Manage, maintain, and schedule demonstration and training equipment
  • Meet and exceed individual goals and objectives
  • Timely distribution of leads generated through training efforts
  • Daily and weekly reporting of activities and schedules
  • Abide by on-the-job site safety requirements
  • Provide cross-functional support to Hydra-Stop engineering, production, and quality functions as requested
  • Complete Special Projects as requested
  • Execute the company’s strategic initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Three years of potable water distribution system maintenance and repair experience preferred, with exposure to contractors and municipalities
  • Prior experience with line tapping, line stopping, and valve insertion installation processes preferred
  • Strong organization skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Exceptional listening skills are essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders
